Murals - The Vandalia Main Street Design committee commissioned local artist Kevin Schaal to paint murals of Victorian-era figures for placement on downtown buildings. The first three figures in the series are mounted on the east wall of Gaby's Gift Gallery on the corner of Fifth and Gallatin Streets downtown. One additional figure can be seen on the Wiseguys building facing Gallatin.
The mural project will continue in 2008 with the commission of at least 3 more figures. The Vandalia Main Street Design Committee is considering the following 3 locations for the murals:
1) Allen's Furniture, western exposure
2) Donaldson's Carpet, eastern exp[osure
3) 425 West Gallatin, eastern exposure
Look for these murals to be complete and installed Fall 2008.
