Vandalia Main Street and members of the Waterloo German Band express their deepest appreciation to the First United Methodist Church of Vandalia for providing a location for the concert. With temperatures topping out at a sweltering 100 degrees, musicians and concert-goers were happy to have an air-conditioned location to play in.
Eager to share his music with the crowd, Harry Wolf, tuba player and band spokesman, started the concert at 10 minutes to 7. For the next hour and 30 minutes the 6-piece band played German favorites like Edelweiss, The Happy Wanderer, and, of course, the Oom, Pah, Pah! They also played some American favorites to which the crowd sang along, and gave a special tribute to the veterans in the audience.
Don't miss next week's concert, The Golden Oldies!
