The City of Vandalia Downtown Advisory Committee met Thursday evening (July 12)to discuss future Streetscape Project bids. The Committee is recommending that the City Council amend the bid documents requiring a block-by-block street closure. The closure of Gallatin Street should only exceed a one block span to accomodate work done in the intersections. The Committee also recommended that the proposed 6-week holiday shut down period be eliminated from the bid.
In addition to the above changes, the committee proposed that the project start as soon as possible after a contractor has been chosen, with Gallatin Street closure not to begin until after January 1, 2008.
The Vandalia City Council will make the final decision on this project at the regular council meeting held Monday, July 16th.
