At the regular City Council Meeting on February 1, 2010, the City Council discussed bids provided by Hank's Excavating and Lanscaping (the Gallatin Street Project contactor) to temporarily re-open the street.
Hank's was asking nearly $4,000 to temporarily re-open Gallatin. For this amount, the re-opening would have lasted only until the weather was suitable for work to begin again. As soon as work resumed, the road would close until completed.
Another bid provided by Hank's would be a permanent re-opening. When work resumed, the road would continue to be open. This bid came in at just over $18,000.
The City Council by unanimous decision of all alderman present rejected the bids.
